“Until the philosophy that holds one race superior and another, inferior, is finally and permanently, discredited, and abandoned, everywhere is war.” Haile Selassie, Emperor of Ethiopia (1930-1974).
A quote from poignant words inspired and evoked through His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie, Emperor of Ethiopia (1930-1974), who seemingly through Divine ordinance, passed the baton to The Honorable Robert Nesta (Bob) Marley who used it to blaze a “fyah” through music and in so doing, brought it to the attention of the world.
But those words are far more profound and everlasting than most of us imagined, because in the process of time and continued awakening, we have come to realize that Colonialization has never truly ended… but now exists surreptitiously, in a different package.
CONTINUING TO SPEAK SLAVERY INTO “PRESENCE” & THE NEW COLONIZERS
The atrocities of slavery continues to haunt us, and quite frankly it holds nothing by way of positive thought that warrants a month long period of time to dwell on. Black History Month should be a true reflection of the Black man’s history of mysticism, prestige, great wealth, self governance, profound culture and pride.
Lest we forget, people are inspired and motivated through great accomplishments too. The month long constant bombardment of the atrocities of slavery should be relegated to a few lines here and there. The thought that such knowledge will prevent a recurrence is nonsense, for as we take time to revisit and be reminded of our belittling underdog status and be emotionally hurt, desensitized and demoralized, we continue to be raped in many ways, before our very eyes.
The game has changed a long time ago. We are fixed in a constitutionalized caste system rigged to ensure inferior earning, rigged to experience inferior treatment from our law enforcers who we pay to protect us, rigged to be unable to pay for meaningful legal representation, rigged for incarceration in penal systems largely owned and controlled by our oppressors, rigged by the banks paying nothing to hold our money while they rinse it through high interest loans and investments, while giving nothing back. The system is rigged by advertisers and merchants to target Black people who need to subscribe to the most expensive merchandise on the planet because it’s supposed to define us, it is rigged with a latent underlying embarrassment for self and by extension others of similar hue, and rigged by religiosity and a salvation thrust upon us as our only hope, so that those leaders can live in jets financed off the backs of the poor while they give little, if anything back.
Yes indeed, our sense of self and vibrant heritage was interjected with a “relatively short term” of conquest in history, which our own brothers subscribed to, but which, if we allow, will continue to undermine our power, strength and dignity, which existed prior to slavery, spanning 200,000 plus years.
The perplexing fact is that within the relatively short time span since the so-called abolition of slavery in America in 1865, and despite the steep impediments deliberately set to stem growth in order to continue to extricate wealth off the backs of Blacks, we have made serious inroads in reclaiming our rich heritage, despite seemingly insurmountable obstacles.
IT IS AMBITION NOT FEAR – THAT DRIVES US!
It’s time to flick the switch to focus on those phenomenal achievements of Black people globally. There is now more than enough footprints for inspiration on the limitless achievements that can be attained, through finding and delving into spiritual purpose and working assiduously toward one’s life purpose, dreams and goals.
The English aristocrat Sir Terry Pratchett (1948-2015) might have done us a disservice in coining the words, “It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you don’t know where you are, and if you don’t know where you are, you don’t know where you’re going. And if you don’t know where you’re going, you’re probably going wrong.” This opens itself too easily for negative interpretation of decadence or revisiting the past, and given the background of the knighted gentleman, such thoughts are easily fostered.
So, to reiterate, history is extremely important only if unambiguous reflections take us back to the day when we were rulers of our own destiny, otherwise, time spent looking back can become an impediment to progress.
But to fast forward and get to more “grind” would be to state emphatically and categorically, that the European Union – the most powerful trade block in the world, are the New Colonizers! Those nations previously colonized are now targeted by the European Union for continued pillaging and looting, not so much for their resources and priceless artifacts under the guise of “ownership,” but through dominance in holding them in economic straits, which they hoped to disguise, while bleeding goodwill, stifling growth and stemming revenues through finding “just cause” for development delay.
Marla Dukharan of Port of Spain, Trinidad, seeks to uncover the European Union’s agenda with “woke” transparency and such plausible reasoning that makes for easily understanding the root cause of disguised, deliberate and sustained Capitalism, of which colonization was its counterpart or nemesis.
Keep your eyes peeled as we move into the future with new paradigms ahead, knowing with certainty that the Emperor has indeed changed his clothes.
