SIMONE BILES – THE GRAVITY DEFYING GYMNAST

Some describe the brilliance of Biles as defying gravity, but beyond that, one could easily assume that “purpose” was etched in her DNA. It may also underscore that to whom much is given much is required, because the common thread that seems to run through the veins of many of the highest achievers on earth, comes fraught with deep challenges.

Early Years and Ascent:

At age 6, her age of adoption by her grandmother, Biles along with her four siblings, had already spent 3 years in foster care. They were removed from their mother’s home and placed in foster care due to excessive drug use. By then she had learnt the sensation of hunger. For fear of them being bounced around or separated, her grandmother adopted her and her sister Adria and her other two siblings were adopted by an aunt.

However, Simone bears no remorse. In fact, she believes that it was a stroke of providence that charted her course, leading her to the woman in her grandmother who would not just identify with her “calling” but acted on it to allow for the heights of fruition that only she knew and could express.

Biles, who was born on March 14, 1997, in Columbus, Ohio, USA, is widely regarded as one of the greatest gymnasts in history. Her remarkable journey in the world of gymnastics began at a young age, showcasing her natural talent and unyielding dedication.

Unprecedented Skill and Innovation:

As a child, Simone Biles was introduced to gymnastics through a field trip to a local gym with her daycare group. At just six years old, her exceptional physical abilities and fearlessness were immediately apparent to the coaches. Recognizing her potential, they encouraged her to join a gymnastics program. Simone’s parents, Ron and Nellie Biles, recognized her passion and talent and supported her decision to pursue gymnastics seriously.

Simone’s early training years were marked by rapid progress. She trained under Aimee Boorman at the World Champions Centre in Spring, Texas. Her dedication and tireless work ethic soon began to pay off, as she started winning local and regional competitions. Simone’s dynamic personality and powerful gymnastic style set her apart from her peers.

One of Simone Biles’ breakthrough moments came at the 2011 Visa Championships, where she claimed the bronze medal in the all-around competition in the junior division. This achievement was an indicator of the success that would follow in her senior career.

In 2013, Simone made her debut on the international stage at the American Cup, where she won the gold medal. Her extraordinary performances continued to amaze audiences and judges alike, leading her to victory in various competitions. Kotch Magazine.

Olympic Triumphs:

However, it was in 2016 that Simone Biles truly solidified her status as a gymnastics legend. At the Rio Olympics, she captured the world’s attention with her awe-inspiring routines and unmatched athleticism. She won four gold medals in the all-around, vault, floor exercise, and team events, as well as a bronze on the balance beam. Her incredible achievements made her one of the most decorated gymnasts in a single Olympic Games.

Simone’s gymnastics routines are characterized by her extraordinary strength, precision, and innovation. She has pushed the boundaries of the sport, performing skills that were once considered unimaginable. Her signature move on the floor exercise, the “Biles,” a double layout with a half twist followed by a blind landing, is a testament to her groundbreaking contributions to gymnastics.

Championing Mental Health:

Her mind-boggling, astounding wins of 32 World Championships have placed her solidly at the top of the totem pole in the history of gymnastics globally. The further acknowledgment came with President Biden awarding her the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Throughout her career, Simone Biles has faced challenges and setbacks, both in and out of the gym. She has been an advocate for mental health awareness, openly discussing her struggles with anxiety and the importance of prioritizing one’s well-being.

In addition to her Olympic success, Simone has continued to dominate the gymnastics world, winning numerous world championship titles and setting records that may stand for generations. Her dedication to the sport and her ability to inspire others with her performances and authenticity have made her a role model for aspiring gymnasts worldwide.

Conclusion:

Simone Biles’ childhood history and achievements in gymnastics are a testament to her exceptional talent, relentless work ethic, and unyielding determination. Her impact on the sport will undoubtedly continue to inspire generations of gymnasts to come.

Having won the highest number of gold medals in a single game, being known as the greatest gymnast of all time and the greatest Olympian of all time is never enough for one for whom the sky’s the limit.

Biles took a break, allegedly due to mental issues but to marry her “best friend” as well. Metaphorically one could say, she is back on track with only herself to outdo.
